Hadron dipole field changing incredibly slowly. Started down from 2.999 GeV
at 1PM. At 2:30PM, the field is now 2.0 GeV. At this rate, it will be almost 4PM
before the field settles in. It may be a moot point as the beam is now lost due
to injector problems (water flow). Mark Stevens tells me that the hadron dipole
current should ramp at about 0.1 - 0.16 A/s or about 1 A per 8 seconds. It is
indeed changing at that rate. The bottom line is that large changes in hadron
momentum are costly in time.
We are nearing 4PM. The hadron field settled at around 3:30PM. Still no word
from MCC regarding a prognosis for beam.
